Carat
Carat weight measures the size of a diamond. One carat is equivalent to 200 milligrams. While larger diamonds are often more desirable, carat weight should be considered alongside cut, clarity, and color. A well-cut smaller diamond can be more stunning than a larger diamond with poor cut quality.
Clarity
Clarity measures the presence of internal inclusions or external blemishes. Diamonds with fewer inclusions are rarer and more valuable. The clarity scale ranges from Flawless (no inclusions visible under 10x magnification) to Included (inclusions visible to the naked eye). At Lavandela, we ensure that our diamonds are selected for their superior clarity, enhancing their beauty and value.
Cut
The cut of a diamond significantly impacts its brilliance and sparkle.
It refers not to the shape, but to how well the diamond's facets interact with light. A well-cut diamond will reflect light internally from one facet to another and disperse it through the top of the stone, creating that signature sparkle. The cut is graded from Excellent to Poor, and it’s crucial to choose a diamond with a high cut grade for maximum radiance.
Color
While diamonds come in various colors, the most prized diamonds are those that are colorless. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) grades diamond color on a scale from D (colorless) to Z (light yellow or brown). Colorless diamonds allow more light to pass through, resulting in greater sparkle and fire. We offer diamonds that fall within the colorless to near-colorless range, ensuring a brilliant shine.
