The heart is a brilliant-cut stone shaped as a symbol of love. It needs expert cutting to keep its two lobes even and its cleft clearly defined. Hearts suit simple solitaires with a V-prong at the point and three prongs or a bezel around the lobes.

Basket prongs hold the diamond low and secure; tulip prongs open like petals; cathedral shoulders arch up to lift the diamond; a bezel wraps it in a smooth rim of gold with no prongs to catch. Setting prices are for size 6 in the gold colour selected, excluding the centre diamond.
About heart settings
Choose a heart of at least half a carat so the shape reads clearly once set, and look for balanced lobes and a ratio around 0.90–1.10.
